    Hey all,

    The wife's resistance has finally broken and I'm clear to buy a new bike.

    Dilemma time now. Which bike.

    Have a budget of under 1k and I will have to get rid of my trusty commuter to make room.

    It's either road or cross, and I'm not buying the cross is great for everything spiel, if I go for a cross bike it'll be on the basis of riding cross.

    Uses would be commuting (18km round daily) longer spins (weekly) and the occasional sportive and adventure race. (plus cross if I get a suitable bike).

    Thought I had it narrowed down to Giant Defy 2 or TCX 2 but the lbs sent me off looking at ordering a full tiagra sensa Umbria for the same price.

    The Surly pacer is also getting a look even though it's a tank.
