Off campus accommodation

We're just trying to find a house for a few of us and just wondered has anyone ever rented in Ranelagh. Does anyone know exactly how long it would take to walk or cycle, like would it be realistic or would it be a good area to live in, would dere be many other students there. Thank you. :)
