Linksys WRT54gs to extend a network?

I recently got an Apple airport extreme to replace my old Linksys router. Before I give it away, can I use the old router to extend the range of the wifi provided by the Apple router?

If so, any tips on how to do so?

If you flash the router with a DD-WRT firmware, then you should make act as wireless repeater.

you can reset the linksys router to factory settings by sticking a pin in the hole at the rear (no jokes thanks), while you have the pin pressed in plug in the power lead and hold the pin for 30 seconds.

your router will now be set to the default settings, log into the routers web interface and change the setup of the router to bridge mode
