What are the differences in cattle from bulls with a better star rating for weanlings rather than beef carcass ?

Essentially it would mean that they were very shapey but really didn't grow away to high weights. BB bulls would be typical of this. In Italy they slaughter at lower weights (550Kg live) anyway, so it's no cencern to them.
Simmental bulls might be the oposite then, with low weanling values but high slaughter values. Ther bull, HKG for example is like this.

Thanks Pak , I wouldnt be very well up on the ratings and didnt think about the lads killing cattle younger and at less weight .
Think would all the irish finishers prefer them bred to carry more meat i.e. beef carcass ,or do some of them kill them younger aswell ?

Try and decide yourself what type of cattle you are trying to produce by identifying what market you are aiming for, when you sell your stock, and to who generally.
