    Hi,

I've decided a break from work is needed so I'm taking 4 weeks off next month. I haven't decided on a destination yet so I'm looking for suggestions.

I will be travelling solo, sun is a must, I'd like to do some sort of activity during the day (e.g. biking, mountain climbing, diving) and drinking at night. I've already travelled through India, Australia, Chile, Argentina, Boliva, Peru, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Europe and looking to go somewhere different. Not fussy on accomodation or anything just looking for some suggestion on where your best holiday has been - particularly if you've travelled alone.

    Cheers,
    Joey

You haven't left many places for us to suggest haha! Space?! If I were you I'd go to Kilkee in Co. Clare, embrace your home island.

I haven't been myself but I noticed Africa is one continent you're yet to conquer? Either there or Antarctica for you! ;)

if its diving you are after Bali/Lombok/Gili's would be high on the list.

Easyish/cheapish to get there and very cheap once there.

Lots to see and do and would be great if you were travelling solo, lots of back packers if you wanted to do activities in a group.

Weather is great, bit of rain most days but nothing you wouldn't put up with.

Lots of mountain areas for a bit of hiking too.

If you have any specific questions i can help you out.

I travel quite a lot with work alone so the highlights:

I'd suggest something like Japan, China or Korea. Have been to Japan, I really like it. Although it's quite expensive, the nightlife is great. Plenty of sightseeing and the bullet trains mean you can travel between all the cities easy enough. Probably not the easiest place to meet locals but you'll find plenty of expats and other tourists. It's an expensive option though. China might be a better alternative although I haven't been there so just going by what I've heard.

Brazil is great too I love Rio de Janeiro and it's a better place if you want to hang out with the locals - they are really nice and easy to get talking to. Again, it's quite expensive. But it would also be a good base to travel around Brazil. Lots of sightseeing again.

Chicago is a great American city; probably the easiest place I've been to meet people; especially the Irish bars; and I know you don't just want to meet Irish people but you'll meet people from all over the place in the Irish bars. Lots of things to see during the day.

South Africa is a place with lot's to see; might be dangerous travelling on your own though.

I almost put Iceland, except for you needing some sunshine. Great spot this time of year, so bright. Loads to do. It's like nowhere else on earth.

Cuba. Best holiday I've been on by some distance (which I repeatedly harp on about over the past 12 months). You can do the beach/sun side of things in the likes of Varadero, but spend a good few days in Havana, there really is no place in the world like it. It ticks almost every box.

Oh, and bring a good camera.....you'll be wanting to use it!
