Hi first tie poster in this forum, I have a few questions and a professional opinion would be appreciated, basically i have not been to the dentist in about 10 years due to well financial constraints never had any problem with my teeth either but recently i have been in pain it goes for weeks then comes back and i am adamant that each tooth i touch is loose. My gf says im imagining it but could i really imagine such a thing ? also at night my gums feel like there on fire i use corsodyl and have a feeling that could be causing the burning sensation i really cannot afford to see a dentist and do not have a medical card either. Basically i wanna know is there a chance that i am losing all my teeth or am i just suffering from hypochondria ?? sorry my grammar is not up to much any opinions professional or otherwise would really help thanks

10 years is a long time. You may or may not be at risk of losing your teeth through gum disease, it's impossible to diagnose over the internet (crystal ball dentistry?!). Corsodyl is useless if there is calculus/tartar buildup- which is basically like a layer of bacterial cement over your teeth.
8 out of 10 Irish adults (3.3 million people) are entitled to a FREE:D annual dental examination under the PRSI scheme. If you call a dentist and give them your PPS number, they can send this away to check if you qualify.
Paying privately, a checkup costs about 40-50 euros, a lot of practices have websites, otherwise ring around. Either way, get checked out!

Ok thanks im not expecting to get diagnosed just a little clarification is all and i think i have tartar buildup on my bottom four teeth would a scale and polish rid me of that and im only 21 i always thought gum disease didn't produce symptoms until people are like 30 or 40 ? sorry i know im a pain in the ass

No, there's no upper or lower age limit to gum disease.
If you're a smoker, the normal "warning signs" of redness& bleeding can be masked.
If your teeth feel loose to you, and your gums feel like they're burning, it's worth getting seen. I know it's expensive, but so is Corsodyl;)

For routine dentistry, ask a trusted friend or family member who they attend (longterm as opposed to a once-off visit).

Ok so i took the plunge got a check up to begin with and had to go here in laois because that's where im living with the baba and that anyway i had a bad experience, The dentist seemed un interested in me as a person, gave me an awful tongue bashing ( which i would expect) but not only that she asked for money upfront like i was going to run out the door or something, She examined me which took 5 minutes ? and said theres nothing wrong but i know in my heart and soul there is even this morning the gum over my incisor is red and tender and my teeth ache when i said are you sure she became even more ignorant so what am i to do now ? sorry for asking you i just have a feeling you know what your talking about
