My input 2 on my Sky plus box is playing up,it unlocks for a day or so and then locks into the signal again. To me this must be a lose connection, its not on the box end as I have checked this so must be on the satellite end.Am I right in thinking this...?Will I have to get them out,its an old sky box as in not HD.

If you are paying a Sky sub then it will cost €100 for a call out. In saying that it will cost that to get one of the private installers out. If it's an old box then the problem could be there but as you say its a connection issue so most likely is at the dish. You will need someone to have a look no matter what.

Have you thought of ringing Sky and threaten to cancel? I've seen people post here saying that they got it for "free" when they threatened to cancel but again you could be tied down to another contract which doesn't leave it "free".

You could always consider the option of cancelling and resubscribing in another name and get a full install done together with new box.

I may do this as I was thinking of getting a new box anyway as the one we have is a few years old.I would rather pay a few bob for a new box to be honest.

Tell them the system is not working and you want it fixed for free. If it is a box problem they will need to replace the box anyway. As already said they may tie you into a contract.
