This is the context, a young girl has been undergoing treatment for terrible foot and lower leg injuries, she was talking to Miriam about her life. Her adopted parents said that she recieved some bad news over the last few days, the treatment on her foot and leg wasn't succesful (it involved rods being inserted to try to lengthen her bones after they were broken) and she would now have to get a prosthesis.
Then Miriam waded in with both feet:eek:
The wife was watching it and I just flicked over on another tv. I couldn't believe my ears, had to double check with her that she actually said it.

Yea it says the op thinks she is probably too dumb to host a talk show.

The sooner these ridiclous overpaid presenters are removed from rte the better. Might actually get some decent programes and then I might start paying my tv licence.

TV these days is crap ,all reality nonsense or mediocre RTE after hours programmes and they are seriously lacking in quality content,its all the same celebs or socialites trotted out again and again,every six months or so they will have bono on or chris de burghs one,or some reality sky tv star flaunting a book and fake tan or some perfume..

I wouldn't hold it against her although you'd expect her to get the idea of what it is.

But yes, I think she's an idiot anyway. Especially when it comes to the troubles and SF, she just stoops to the lowest intellectual denominator every time and I can't tell if she's faking or if she is actually that stupid.

Did she ask what a prosthesis is? Maybe it was just for the benefit of viewers who might not know what it refers to exactly, or just for clarification. It's not really the presenter's job to come across as more knowledgable than the potential audience. Then again, I didn't see it so just speculating.

Yes she asked what a prosthesis is, how was it for the viewers it was because she is too thick to know what it is.

In the particular incident you mentioned, I think it was the young girls pronunciation of the word prosthesis that threw her.

In fairness you'd think she would have her homework done and not put the poor person on the spot having to explain. And if she did do it for the sake of the viewer she could have just explained it herself after the they'd finished.

Correct, and given that she qualified as a solicitor, then became a producer for the BBC before moving on to Tv presenting, I doubt she is too dumb.
