    Gonna need more than that.
Budget? Would you like a saloon or a 7 seater? Max engine size, if there is one.
As the millage is so low, I guess it's mostly short sprints?
I guess you'll be looking at a petrol in that case. Despite what Tom from the pub says, diesel isn't going to be the best bet for you. They need long fast motorway stints to keep them healthy and at 7k a year, fuel consumption shouldn't be too different.
You may think a diesel looks cheaper, especially past 08 with cheaper tax but in reality what you save in tax will be nothing compared to the difference in price between a diesel and a petrol, great deals to be had seeing as we Irish seem to be a bit terrible the maths.

Bit of a ramble there, anyway, more details please. :)

Thinking more of a Luxobarge 7 series Jag Lexus, I like the CL but has only 2 seats in the back.

Worth stretching the budget for a 07 7 series?

I'd park the budget a bit and find the cleanest e38 you can find if I was in that position.

The XJ of that vintage would not have been known for it's space unless you went for the LWB version and they are about as common as a hen's teeth.

OP one other thing, have you an idea around running/maintenance costs of these type cars? While fuel costs may not be important doing low mileage, if any of these cars develope problems they will cost alot more than a Golf TDi would to put right. When things do need to be fixed/replaced parts can be expensive as they are still high end cars. Not trying to put you off buying but you just need to be aware of this all the same.

That's why asked on here, which one one would be the least troublesome .

Without knowing the history of the individual car it's impossible to say.

Skoda Octavia tdi would be a good choice.
Economical, comfortable and very reliable can't really go wrong.
For 10k you would get a fairly fresh one 2008 old model with low enough mileage.
Definitely worth a look anyway that's what id go for

Lads, the guy is doing 7k miles a year and wants a large executive barge, not a Passat or Octavia.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Many high end executive saloons only really cater for 4 occupants in full luxury (with 3 point belts). Some only even have a lapbelt in the middle

I presume the OP wants 5 proper seats and 5 3 point seatbelts, so that would leave many cars mentioned out. My most beloved car to date was an E38 7-series, indeed with only a lap belt in the middle in the back...

Newer shape s80? I persOnally find them very nice looking cars.
Volvo v70? You could get a very nice one with your budget op. big, comfortable, can be 7 seater of needed.

Bulletproof 4WD estate with plenty of room and rare enough to stand out from a sea of T Diddly I's.
