A problem at Roman Liturgy/Mass....

I was at vigil Mass today at one of the local Roman Churches and something struck me and I would like for someone to explain.

In the leaflet, instead of the Nicene Creed it was the Apostles creed being used. Now correct me if I am wrong but we should all be praying the Nicene Creed at the Liturgy and not the Apostles Creed which is more or less for the Holy Rosary or private use, right?

    I don't get it.

My understanding is that the Apostles' Creed is recommended for Mass during Lent and Easter, Sunday Mass and Holy days and Baptisms.

While the Nicene Creed is now part of the Order of Mass there is no strict prohibition on using the Apostles' Creed and it is generally used for childrens Masses.

    That said, today is Saturday.

    From the Roman Missal
"On Sundays and Solemnities, the Profession of Faith or Creed will follow (the homily). During Lent and Easter Time, especially, the Apostles’ Creed may be used."

It can get confusing sometimes. I think it's best to pick up a missal at the door - but also to be 'present' too with others - like when the teacher called out your name on the roll book and you said 'Anseo'.

Some people still say, 'And also with you..'

It's like a changing time, but most people just smile at eachother because they understand the community- and make the time to say 'Anseo' and the response matters most when it means that one is actually present.

    I love going to Mass :) it's a priviledge.

I think the Apostle's Creed may be preferred by some priests as it doesn't have the word men in it. Men being a dirty word and all.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Who is Anseo?

    Who is Anseo?

Pml, it means...'Present', as gaeilge ( In Irish) it's a common reply to the teacher who calls your name from a roll book to count the members present at class. As in you are 'present' - not only physical, but in Irish it means really fully 'present' :) To actually be there to be with others and think there is something to learn.
