    Hi folks, thinking of getting the above lens for use on my 40d. and getting rid of my 18-85 IS. obviously i lose the wide angle but do i gain alot in image quality

    Yes it's a superior lens.... I'm sorry I sold mine.

    Its a great lens, I use all the time as my primary lens, even over the 28-70/2.8
    Copy i have is very sharp and gives great color and contrast, plus the IS is a great bonus.
