Lubes vs Water Displacers

I'm completely new to the world of road bike maintenance so I was hoping that somone here could offer some advice (google search returns contradictory answers!). When I was buying my bike the other day they recommended I use the following products for maintenance:

    - GT85 as a water repellent: he seemed to imply this would be a good way to keep the bike clean. However, I can't remember whether he meant I spray the entire bike (e.g. chain, cassette, frame, brakes) or just some specific parts. Can anyone advise me on this? I know this is not a lube for bike chains, so is it simply just to keep water and dirt at bay?

    - Muc-Off dry lube, as far as I remember this goes directly onto the chain (using a cloth to mop up the excess) and on other moving parts *except* the brake pads. Am I correct here?

Is it correct that the gt85 should be used once a week and the dry lube every two weeks? Bearing in mind I will be doing max 150-200km cycling per week. I try to avoid cycling in the rain too.

    Thanks in advance.

Oh and also, should I use the GT85 well in advance (e.g. a few hours) of applying the lube or does it not make a difference?

Gt85 is like WD40 but lubes instead of leaving things completely bare. I use it some times for cleaning a few bits and especially for removing anything rusted/gritted shut I find it great. good penetrative oil. I haven't used it as a lube, I'd suspect it'd be a little too thin, though if the chain was very dry it should penetrate into the links well enough. Can be used to spray into cable housing too. Better using the long nozzle get more force and direction.

The dry lube is good as it doesn't pick up as much dirt but it has to be re-applied after each time it rains and every 100km or so afaik.
