Don't know much about watches, have a Lorus Chronograph 100m. I replaced the battery today and it cost me €10. I thought it was a little dear expected to pay about €5. Was I ripped off?

Though to be fair it's pretty good. I mean I'm daft enough to replace batteries on the two watches I have that require them* and the (quality) batteries alone are 5 or 6 quid on ebay with a quid or so shipping. Bear in mind I'm more out for a bargain than our own dear Peasant hereabouts, but a tenner including fitting isn't exactly milking the customer IMHO. In watch repair it's the least of it in my experience. Some of the prices quoted in this country of ours for simple stuff, often badly done, are much worse.

*one 1960's "electronic" not quartz job, requires gelignite and the arms of a gorilla just to get the back off, never mind screwing up the mechanism(which I have).

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
