It feels like the whole experience is being eroded in the last 2/3 months by devs releasing badly updated apps.. Dolphin HD being the latest fuk up on my S2 that leaves me uninstalling, reinstalling, uninstalling app and all extensions, reinstalling and it still won't do the most basic operations without hanging.

I really can't be bothered going to 4shared and getting older version apks but I have to if I want functionality back.. Even then, risking a compromised apk for your main browser is borderline crazy but if I want the only browser I enjoyed using, I have to.

I've been on Android for a year and the zero accountability and too many handsets is finally showing for me and those around me. My housemate has stopped using his Desire HD and my girlfriend is starting to despise her Sensation XL. All we want is a good browser and it's not happening. I really hate every other browser available on Android and will sell just the phone if they can't get Dolphin back to perfect.

Can't say I agree but then I'm using a Galaxy Nexus and I've never had a better experience with a phone before.
The new Jelly Bean OS combined with either Chrome browser or the default browser with Quick Controls enabled is amazing.

Actually, maybe I should upgrade to ICS and get Chrome.. Never considered it as an option. I did love Android so maybe a clean ICS will clear up the problems.

I'm using resurrection remix and have never been smoother on my GS2

I rooted before but couldn't get clockwork mod to work, lost patience and just stuck with stock OS with some tweaks.. I love reading about technology but really don't enjoy flicking through 50 different threads of people doing things different ways.

Maybe it's simply down to expectation. I have the most budget, cheapo Samsung galaxy mini and find the built in browser is just about perfect. But perhaps that's simply because it's my first experience both with a smartphone in general and with android in particular. I've never been happier wish a phone in my life before.

Maybe when I upgrade I'll realise just how I've been depriving myself this past year :OD

Vanilla ICS is just good and smooth, jellybean is just going to make that even better, my advice, get a Nexus device and see Android for what its supposed to be, my phone broke and ive the option to get a One X or S3, not a chance, im sticking with my Nexus, love it to bits

From your Rant it seems that Dolphin is falling apart rather than Android. I gave up on Dolphin about 6 months ago because I had similar issues to you.

I've gone to Quick ICS Browser and haven't looked back. I try Dolphin every so often but it just seems clunky and old fashioned now.

I'm using ICS with an S3. I started using Android a couple of years ago. I'm really happy with my phone experience at the moment.

I've actually gone back to using dolfin hd after using chrome for 4 months. Chrome kept crashing for me. The new update for dolfin hd works really well imo.

I have zero problems with Dolphin HD, on my SGS or my new SGS3. I stick with it because I use the Lastpass and Xmarks addons. It's one of the best browsers out there, fully functional like a real browser. I like Chrome and it's improving, not sure if flash is working in it yet though.

Maybe it's the fact that I'm a custom Rommer, I don't stick with what I have very long and reinstall to new Rom's often. This makes my Android installs nice and fresh, as they do slow down and get buggy over time. I like vanilla Android, I have no time for manufacturer bloat, I rooted the SGS3 on day 1 and custom Rom'd it within a week. Android isn't falling apart, it's getting better and better by the day.

Maybe that was to do with it being in beta until last month?

Ads by Google, There is nothing wrong with Android, your rant was solely about Dolphin Browser HD which works perfectly for me so it could just be an issue with your phone, I would recommend you do a factory reset and see if that sorts out your issues.

Developers releasing bad apps does not mean Android is falling apart quite frankly its never been better.

I just use Opera Mobile. Best browser on most platforms.

Might take a while to adjust from Dolphin but I always found Dolphin to seem unfinished/unpolished.

Look, Android is a largely open ecosystem whereby there are few barriers to entry for developers and even phone manufacturers.

The downside of this is that Android will have a greater percentage of shovelware and probably more trojans too, than the iPhone. You really have to look (at reviews) before you leap with Android.

The upside is that the vast majority of apps are free, compared to the iPhone. You can literally fill your phone full of good quality apps and never spend a penny, while with the iPhone you won't get far without putting your hand in your pocket. Another advantage, is there appear to be quite a few apps available for Android that you just won't get on the iPhone, because the latter's permissions are too restrictive.

Both the iPhone and Android have pluses and minuses, and both are working to fix the minuses. So you should pick the one that best suits your temperament.

So if you're fed up with Android, by all means buy an iPhone and stop whinging.

You had to ruin a good post with those last 3 words. Anyways, got a day off tomorrow and gonna try get everything in the phone back to clean and new. I did that about 6 months ago when I smashed the screen and it worked well afterwards.

I suppose the fact that flash will no longer be supported in jelly bean could be one aspect of android falling apart. The world isn't prepared to abandon flash just yet I reckon.

With more and more people browsing from the likes of Tablets and Phones, and with them no longer supporting flash, the change from flash to HTML 5 might happen sooner than we think

Actually I just got introduced to dolphin HD and I love it purely for the reason that it has the proper tabbed browsing, flash support and predictive text a combination that neither chrome nor the stock browser has.

Everything is dropping Flash support though except Desktop market. Websites will only go to the effort of swapping over once their current audience can't view their site anymore and they have to fork out for the redesign. Up to then, hard to justify the cost.

Don't think even Adobe want Flash around any longer as they can't afford to maintain it across all the platforms.

They don't, they've already stated they won't be maintaining it anymore for Android. Adobe have also stated they are moving into using HTML5 instead.

Flash is old and terrible technology. Its a huge drain on the battery. Websites should be using HTML5 and encouraging users who don't have a HTML5 compatible browser to either upgrade or get a new browser.

I don't know why anybody would want to continue using Flash when they don't have to.

    Personally I hated that ROM.

Main reason, it did not give the option to use settings/more/mobile networks/Network mode.

(this option is a must to ensure constant 3G signal if youre with three)
