    Hi there,
Long story short, I'm hoping to get my first car soon as I've just started my first job. Usually sort of stuff for a first car is what I'm looking for: cheap to buy and run, and pretty reliable. I'm a 23 year old male too, and I'll have to taking cost of insurance into account. Car will mostly see short trips around town.

Thanks for taking a read, if I've left out any essential information please let me know and I'll add it :)

I had a 1l toyota yaris which was a great first car. Just sold it recently for 1500 euro which fits in with your budget. Very easy to maintain and very spacious.

You can't go wrong with a yaris. Pretty uncool though.

Cheers lads for the input, I'd agree with colm about the yaris and not totally gone on the panda, but the seicento looks good. I saw a couple of 323's going for around my price, any opinion On those?

I saw a good offer on a Ford Fiesta ''Ghia'' 1.2 with an engine in great shape. Do you rate those at all ? Are they the same thing ? Someone said the Ghia is the top of the range model.

The ghia is higher spec than the zetec, usually has aircon and a radio made out of timber.

Watch out for rust though, the front wings on those Fiestas are notorious for it.

Ghia is the top model? Zetec is the engine..... We're only on about Mk5 Fiestas.

Yes OP, 1.2 same thing... Make sure the TB eas done and on.a 5 door check back arches for rust.

Zetec became a trim level on Fords back in the late 1990s.
