UK digital channels gone - Please help!

    Hi

So I have a Sony LCD digital TV bought in 2006 (HD ready) bought in the UK and used in the UK. Brought it over here some years back (I live close to the Cavan border) and have been getting all UK Freeview channels fine (digitally of course) and been watching the Irish channels on the analogue tuner on the same TV.

The problem started about a week ago: BBC1/2 and also CBBC disappeared and says it's not tuned in, so I re-tune but instead of picking up BBC1/2, RTE1/2 come into it's place. BBC1/2 come back randomly but they don't stick for long and leaves me with the same blank screen saying it's not tuned in. I think all other Freeview channels work fine.

Can anyone shed any light on this please? Is it the TV/aerial problem or just plain and simple the user who's at fault?

    Many thanks!

RTE NL moved 3Rock from ch 54 to ch 30. That might have affected you. What ch do you get the BBC from?

Didnt even know you could pick up the uk digital over here, would it work in wexford formally kilmuckridge?

Kilmuckridge enjoys a fairly good DTT signal from Preseli in Wales. The only thing that might upset the apple cart is the nearby wind farm.
Edit: I mean the general area rather than just the village.

That appears to be it, digital-on-digital CCI/Co-Channel Interference.

The Brougher Mountain transmitter (which some people call "Enniskillen"), received by many near the border in the republic currently transmits the BBC Freeview channels affected on Ch30+ / 546.2MHz

Three Rock Saorview now on UHF Ch30 / 546MHz

However that BBC Mux is planned to move to Ch28 on the 10th October 2012 when BBC2 analogue on 28 from there is due to go QRT

    It just gets better!
If this is true then they are not just content to jam Wales but are going after N.I. too until DSO.

I have noticed something similar on my Sony TV too.
Try setting to "UK" in the menu before you scan.
After the scan you can then switch back to "Ireland" for subtitles to work.
You should also be able to remove the "objectionables" from the channel list and arrange wanted channels in an order to suit yourself, e.g. I have stored my Saorview channels in the 500s, RTE1 at 501, RTE2 at 502, etc.

It won't matter what way you scan if the signal from Three Rock is strong enough to displace the BBC channels.

The channel changes & power increase at switchover should sort things for the OP.

I didn't do any re-tune manually (the TV must have done it automatically?) but have lost BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC News, CBBC.

All other UK and Ireland DT channels are coming in fine. I also live in the Cavan area.

This is annoying but at least I can still get these channels on satellite with the Ferguson Ariva :)

Thanks for your replies all, seems as if I have to wait this one out.

I'm still trying to convince wife that the TV is broken and an upgrade is the only way to fix it :D

Had a similar problem with a LG TV. As mentioned before, in settings change location to UK and rescan. Got all my stations back.
