I don't have saorview yet, but plan on getting it in for the olympics. I don't suppose RTE have an interactive service like the BBC? Would be nice to have multiscreen for the olympics. Wishful thinking maybe!?

Dream on... RTÉ are too lazy to implement basics like series recording or accurate EPG listings

No red button, no interactivity. Best bet is go Freesat for BBC if these are what you want.

No room for a temporary multiscreen service on Saorview unless they fire up the second multiplex (and have temporary legislation to allow for it).

As already mentioned your best bet for an Olympics multiscreen service will be via satellite through the BBC (24 streams I think simulcast in SD & HD). Even Freeview viewers are only getting 2-3 additional streams alongside the coverage on the main BBC channels.

Think I'm right in saying these streams will be available via BBC website also but possibly blocked to users outside UK.

The RTE website are going to have 12 live streams. Looks like it will be online only though, no mention of digital interactive on the TV :(

RTÉ.ie’s London 2012 section - www.rte.ie/sport/olympics - plans to offer users up to 12 high-definition video streams each day during the Games. In addition, users will also be able to stream RTÉ Sport’s comprehensive television and radio output.
RTÉ’s 12 HD video streams from London 2012 – providing an estimated 2,000 hours of coverage from the greatest sporting spectacle in the world – will be available to users online and on mobile.

Guess they don't have the space on DTT to do this but if second mux could have been launched early in time for Olympics could they not have put some of these streams on it? Edit: Reading other threads looks like 2nd mux may not be up and running to next year so wishful thinking on my part I guess.

The second mux is ready ...... seems a huge opportunity is being missed by not using it for the Olympic coverage ...... it would be a real coup to have multichannel 'special' coverage and give a huge boost to Saorview uptake before Analogue Switch Off
