Im using three broadband, its a wireless modem which works as wifi (huawei E586). Been using for four months now. At first was great, as quick as my old eircom broadband. But the last two months its just impossible to put up with. It might work fine for 15 - 20 minutes, but suddenly nothing.. and its showing full signal. Its not a lack of signal (showing full). I then have to switch it off, then on and it might work again for 5 minutes.
And I'm not alone, three workmates and two other friends have the same problem. Complete waste of 35 euro a month.. should have never left eircom!

welcome to the wonderful world of mobile midband...it's not broadband and never will be it simply depends on luck to get any connection at all.
There's really nothing you can do about it except sign up to a real broadband provider

€30.66 for 60GB of Usage a Month. Just over €35 if you don't pay by direct debit.

Sounds like a computer problem as it works after being switched on and off. Which makes no sense as networks don't just magically fix themselves when you restart your modem. Could possibly be radio interference. More than likely was never troubleshooted correctly to find out the real problem.

With 3G yes it does automagically fix itself...if you know how CDMA works you know then that's exactly what happens
It could be a computer problem however the OP says 5 different people have exactly the same problem so it's most likely congestion

Stay away from three mobile broadband folks unless you want to wait three days for it to arrive then wait three days for a page to load then another three days for them to try fix the problem then be passed to three imaginary departments where their three favourite words are 'escalate', 'Data' & you guessed it 'three' .Then another three days of stalling you until you lose the right to send it back and get a refund-....its NOT a magic number folks ..Its a tragic number -

I always thought the name was an unfortunate choice as the first thing I think of when I think of the numeral 3 and Hong Kong ownership is Chinese Triads?

You might be right as behind the shiny exterior of most big companies lays the lies of a criminal group.

I would forgive three for their bull**** coverage if they actually admitted it but since they filled me with rubbish and make it out to be something Im doing wrong and then try stall me on purpose then they can go to hell....

Hutchison 3G Ireland can go suck my @;';' too

I doubt they will...they will pretend to fix it and ask you to point your modem in another direction but the problem is more and more people are being signed up to three and it looks like everyone has to share the same connection....so it all gets really slow...I got fed up with it and signed to digiweb.Dont be afraid to send them a letter and cancel your direct debit afterall if you go to a petrol station and pay for petrol, you'd expect to get what you pay for!

They seem to be blocking Speedtest.net now...

If I could only sum Three.ie up in one word it would be FRAUD.

Is it worth bothering with Comreg, NCA or the other trough feeders in the Dept of Communications?

You could bother to complain to comreg but first your best bet is to get a broadband provider that actually works then in your spare time work away at giving out about them...I became physically Ill from dealing with three and their lies...I wouldnt feel too bad if you were breaking your contract either as when you think about it, its an agreement between you and three for the service and its pretty obvious they are not holding up their side of the agreement so its null and void if you ask me...

I asked them if they read my terms and conditions which they were bemused about I went on to explain that my terms and condition's are on my website and they basically state that I am not paying anyone for any service that isnt there....

It gets a good laugh from time to time...

I'm with three and speedtest works fine for me.

The problems you're describing are exactly what you'd expect from a midband device on a heavily congested mast. That's the key problem with midband - there's never any way to tell or predict how many users are going to be on a single mast at any given time.

This petition was started on another thread. The only way Three.ie will listen is if it hurts them in the pocket.
    Contacting them is pointless.

Its goes to crap after 6 when everyone is at home surfing..it will not get better and you will get annoyed with people over nothing in a shop if you dont change providers.....

I honestly don't think its contention, if it was why would we all have trouble connecting regardless of location?

I think its either an overall capacity issue or a major technical problem. Maybe its just time for Three.ie to get some new hardware.

@MikeGil Did you sign that petition? Nothing will get this sorted unless there is a mass complaint to the useless COMREG et al. that they can't ignore.

I really feel sorry for Sheena from Three, she is obviously being told the same porkies we are getting.

I did sign the petition and would like to start another one directed at RTE and their licence fees...

The reason I changed provider is simply because of three's lies and scheme's.They kept saying that it would take one or two more days to sort out the problem and each time they said that it was getting closer to the contract cut off point of 14 days. Three hire some people to sit in a call centre and lie to people....they may not realise they are lying to the public but they are. I am going to unsubscribe from this thread as it only brings back the utter rage I have towards that company...save yourself a lot of grief and change provider.

I know what you mean. It was driving me insane last week, my mate lent me an O2 stick and all is calm again.

Its only when you don't have internet access you realise how much you use it. Scary.

exactly....if you pull up to a petrol station and pay for petrol but it comes out in drips and you really have lots of other stuff to be doing ...and the guy in the station is asking you ''are you sure its turned on?... Are you sure its in the car? Are you pointing it in the right direction''.... that's the three service. Idiots treating people like idiots...

If you let us know whereabouts you live (roughly) we can probably find a Fixed Wireless Provider in your area
