Help with replacement? Don't want to mess this up!
Okay hi guys! First time posting on this page and I'm just looking for some advice really! So basically my iPhone 4 was stolen but luckily I had insurance and got a replacement one sent to me through the insurance company. Not so luckily, the replacement phone was faulty and had loads of weird techy issues! (microphone wont work, can't go onto the Internet even when I have credit, won't sync properly to iTunes, and I swear it's deleting songs off itself!) So obviously I called the apple helpline to report it and they said that I was guaranteed a repair or replacement under my warranty, which is great. So I was waiting for them to send me out a box so I could send my iPhone back to them when I dropped it! And now there's a little crack on the top left hand corner just over the camera! Is my warranty now void because of this crack? Like will they just look at the crack straight away in the repair centre and say that thats the problem? Is there anyway I can prove that the drop has nothing to do with the problems? And sorry this is so long but last question! What is the best way to go about getting my replacement? It's just I really can't afford to pay anything for repairs and this should be covered my warranty! I'm just worried the crack is going to damage my request! Anyone have anything similar to them happen or am I just really unlucky? Thanks anyways guys and sorry for boring you with my rant!

Could you not claim on the insurance for the crack? Does it cover accidental damage

If you want to claim on the warranty, the only thing you can do is get on the phone, explain what happened and ask that they fix the underlying issue which was logged before the damage occurred. It's a question of whether they believe you, but if they actually do bother to look at it properly they'll see that there's more to it than a crack. You're relying on their belief of your claim to get any joy here, as your warranty has technically been voided by breaking it.

You could have the screen fixed independently, for a relatively small fee, before sending it to them. Have a Google, there's plenty of places that do a 1-hour service. Apple may or may not notice that the phone has been repaired by someone other than them, and may decide your warranty is invalid as a result.

The last option is to claim off your insurance policy again - most policies will allow two claims but no more in a given period. This will cost you whatever the mandatory excess is. If you do get a new phone this way, get yourself an Otterbox Defender case, €49 and well worth it, they're bulletproof*.

    *not really, but they're great

Could you not send it off in the envelope and claim there was no crack when posted. Sly I know but with the money they're making off these phones I can't it being an issue. :D

Oh yeah if they don't entertain you get rid of the feckin thing and buy a Samsung s3 by far the better phone in every way :D

Cool name by the way I'd have to agree with you on that one :D

It does and I could but I've already claimed on it twice this year! First time I lost it one night out, stupid I know. I don't deserve an iPhone! Thanks anyways! :)
