Go to any motor factors and get the oil with the correct spec for your MINI, i would assume its some sort of BMW LL01 or LL04 oil, but you'll need to confirm.

If you want cheap oil with a BMW spec on the bottle try http://www.autobaltic.ie/

You don't need to use the 0W30. As above any oil which meets the BMW LL04 spec will be fine. LL04 supercedes LL01 and is more commonly available. In my opinion a BMW LL04 compliant 5W40 (eg Fuchs Titan GT1 5w40) is the best oil for your car.

I picked some up in Homebase before, mind you it was on special at €5 a litre, bought 10 of them.

Herself has a petrol R50 (basically the first generation of the BMW MINIs)
Castrol EDGE 0w30 and 5w30 are both BMW LL04 approved as far as I know, I wait until there's a deal going in Halfords and pick up the 4L* then. Buying it in individual litre bottles is always extra expensive.

*EEK 60euro there right now - definitely available for cheaper than that elsewhere.

Have to say I have been using the Mannol oil from autobaltic for a while now for VW 507.00 and other cars.

I find it absolutely fine. Get it from them to the bmw spec and save come cash.

That's because they are only interested in when your buying your next car.

Modern engines use specific oils with additives etc to suit the design of the engine and current emission regs etc. The spec of oil suitable for your car is BMW LL04(Long life). This can come in several viscosities including 0w30, 5w30, 5w40 etc so once the oil is BMW LL04 spec then it will be fine. IMO though, for our climate, 0w30 is not ideally suited.

Thanks for reply, IUO, which oil suit our climate? I find on the Internet saying all mini came with 5w30 when they left the factory. Don't know how ture it is. Can I mix up different oil? By the way, can I find "BMW LL 04" in the back or front of the bottle?

You'll usually find it on the back of the bottle. There'll be a box outlined at the end of the information that says something like:

    Approved/Approuvé/etc: MB-Approval 229.51/229.31; VW 504 00/507 00; BMW LongLife 04; Porsche C30; Peugeot/Citroen Automobiles B71 2290

Here's a pic I took of one I've lying around
