Advice needed on raising money

A few of us in my country district are interested in providing a volunteer transport service, whereby drivers using their own vehicles would convey incapacitated people to medical appointments in the city, and home again.

Obtaining the volunteers will be moderately easy. Obtaining money to provide this service is something else entirely.

A number of organisations around the district are already attempting to provide such a service. In every case, they are hampered by a lack of funding.

What we need are ideas on ways to convince politicians (1) that the service is needed, and (2) that they need to put money towards it.

As no doubt the politicians will say they have no money to spare, we also need ideas, to put to them, regarding how they might go about finding this extra money.

If the public well is truly dry, we need to convince known wealthy individuals to help. In such case, what type of approach do you think would be productive?

    Thank you
