Rent allowance

    Hey all,
I had a look on citizens information and welfare websites but couldn't find this mentioned anywhere specifically.
Can 2 people claim rent allowance living in a 1 bed apartment or studio? Or is that only allowed for a couple?
I'm looking around on daft but it's proving difficult to find a 2 bed place anywhere near the city within the new limits, and I'm not sure where I originally got the idea, but I always assumed each person had to have their own room on rent allowance...

AFAIK the rent officer has to do a check and deem the place suitable for the amount of people living there, I doubt they would approve a 1 bed for two people who are not a couple, that would mean one person on a couch in the living area I presume?

Your right in thinking the only way 2 people would get it is if it was a couple. So both incomes would be taken into account etc

A CWO will not allow 2 single people to receive rent allowance for a 1 bed place.
