Fergal White is currently building one.
I want to see how it preforms.

It has the same C.O.L as the 22 Hornet and uses the existing action. Is it safe to assume that current 22 hornets could be converted to this caliber by changing the barrel?

    Yes.
But I don;t think people are going to get the kind of performance they are expecting.

As a reloader it will be only marginally cheaper to run than a .204- with poorer performance.

Glensman has posted from Co. Antrim/Aontroim, Northern Ireland, where reloading is permitted.

For when reloading is permitted in the Republic of Ireland, .223 is one of the very easiest and most popular calibres to reload - the choice of bullet weights and type, different propellants and the variations of loads numbers in the thousands.

excuse the ignorance but is the .17 hornet different from the .17 remington (fireball) ?

Yes, it's a 22 hornet case necked down to take a .17 head.

Savage are the only ones importing them and so far ammo is the same price as the superior .223 & .204

The .17 remington and .17 fireball are two different calibers also although both were created by remington

I had a .17 rem years ago and i loved it , what spoilt it was the price of the ammo. I believe it is (or was) the cartridge of choice for foxes in australia.

Very popular in the states for coyotes too, leaves a very small hole to be stitched after on the pelt. Bit of a barrel burner though.
