    Hi all.

Does anyone have any experience camping around the Blessington lakes?

Every year myself and 2 or 3 friends spend a night wild camping, with a fire and a few drinks. I'm pushing for Blessington Lakes, but my mates are worried as we know this isn't allowed. Is it busy around the area? Do they have people who look out for campers?

I have a very personal experience of this area, though very scenic, it has been marred and destroyed by drinkers/campers, it smells horrible, there are broken bottles and cans everywhere, it's a disgrace. Try some where that camping is permitted.

I should stress that I'm as disgusted as you are with that kind of behaviour. In fact it's put me off the idea. The whole point is to get away from civilization. I couldn't enjoy it if I was surrounded by rubbish.
