    Hi All,

Looking at getting a new bike, mainly for longer spins, some triathlons etc. I have a Giant Rapid as a commuter and am happy with it for that purpose but think I'll try get something posher for the weekends.

From what I can see, the TCR is a bit more suited to racing that the Defy, which looks to be more of a solid all rounder. Would that be right?

    Defy - http://http://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=35&idproduct=48693

    TCR - http://http://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=35&idproduct=48769

I think that price for the composite TCR is very good. As much as I like my Trusty Giant Rapid, I'd like try something different. Which models from other manufacturers would be similar to this bike. I like the Canyon Roadlite, would that be along the same lines as a TCR. Not sure about buying online in terms of fitting etc. I like Ridleys too.

Yes, the Defy has more relaxed geometry, but the Defy advanced uses the same frame construction technology as the TCR Advanced. You also get the press fit bottom bracket, the oversized steerer tube.

I had a TCR for a few months, fantastic bike. Would buy! However, unless you want to try racing, the position may be a little uncomfortable over longer distances, the shorter wheelbase makes it a great handler at the expense of longitudinal stability. A defy advanced would be the one I'd go for, if I were you.

Thanks for the Reply. Looking at the Price lists, my budget wont stretch to an Advanced.
