    Looking for a medium size road frame / frame set as want to build my own bike.

    I am 5ft 8.

    Do not mind if its aluminum, carbon or titanium once its in excellent condition. My preference would be aluminum as have a carbon already and ideally come with forks also but not essential.Maximum spend is in the region of 500.

    Try me with what you have !

    Cheers

    I have a Bianchi MegaPro aluminium frameset (forks are carbon) with an installed Campagnolo Chorus headset, a Pro 110mm stem and 40cm ITM Millenium bars that I'm looking to sell. It's in Pantani colours. It dates from 1999 but I only rode it for, I think, around 4,000km in all the time I've had it. The majority of that was in good weather but I did fit Crud RoadRacer II mudguards to it last year which have taken off some of the paint where the stays were attached to the frame, Apart from the bits of paint missing it's in very good condition.

    I don't have any pictures of the frameset itself to hand but here is a picture of the bike built up from last year:

    212979.jpg

    I'm 5' 7" and a bike fit found that the reach on the big was a little too long and the drop a little too much to suit me. As per the picture I'd flipped the stem to slope upwards to address those issues but while it got close to a good fit it wasn't quite right. Depending on your reach and flexibility it might suit you, or not.

    I find it hard to place a value on this since these frames don't seem to be that common so I don't know what the average asking price is. I'll peg it at 200euro but I am open to reasonable offers. If you are interested then I'll take some photos of the stripped frameset and I can dig out exact frame measurements too as these were taken during the bike fit.

    @doozerie What size frame?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,830 ✭✭✭doozerie

    @RT66, When I had a RETUL fit done the fitter recorded the frame as 50cm. He wasn't entirely sure though as he thought that Bianchi have their own way of sizing frames that he wasn't entirely familiar with. I bought the frame so long ago that I can't actually remember myself either but I think 50cm is a fair approximation.

    I'll measure it up this evening and post the various tube sizes. I thought the RETUL fit had recorded stuff like tube measurements but I was forgetting that it doesn't do that, it measures based mainly on saddle position, handlebar position, etc. I can post those measurements if you like but obviously they'll be relevant only for the saddle, stem, and bars that I had on it at the time and the way I had them positioned so they might not be much practical use. Here are the frame-only measurements from that fit though:

    - Frame size: 50cm
    - Seat tube angle: 75 deg
    - The following are horizontal and vertical measures from centre of the bottom bracket to centre of the top of the headtube:
    * Frame stack: 511mm
    * Frame reach: 387mm

    In terms of steerer length, I had the stem mounted at the top, with no spacer above it from what I can remember (the steerer tube is alloy, not carbon), and 30mm of spacers underneath.

    I'll be selling my frame at end August / beginning of September if that is of any use to you.It is a 2008 Felt F75 size 54. Aluminium frame with carbon seat stays and a carbon fork (with cabon steerer). The cabon fork is top quality and was used in their higher models (F5 and F4).Now it has been crashed a handful of times while racing but it is purely cosmetic damage. There are quite a few chips in the paint work. I will post pictures if you want to see.The bike is actually very light with race wheels on and I have never felt like it has held me back. Only reason for sale is I wont be racing on the road for the next few years and am buying a cyclocross frame instead and transferring the components.I think it is woth €150 but as this would save me the hassle of finding a buyer and you would have to wait until the end of the season before you got it I would sell it for €100.

    Titanium!:pac:

    I've a Planet X Ti Sportive in small. I'm 5' 7". It's the Lynskey-built model from a couple of years ago. Dimensions would probably be the same as Lynskey's own Sportive model: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=52275. Asking price would be in the very upper end of your budget.

    Hi I have a Canyon Roadlite frameset, including carbon fork which I need to shift to make room for my latest purchase. Great handling frame, size 50cm, and fits me at 5ft7 so should work for you if you are interested. Here is a pic, I can get more pics or arrange to let you view it if interested. €285

    Cheers

    Kebel

    (sorry just to clarify that price is for frameset only, i.e. bottle cages, front mech, brakes and saddle in the picture are not included in that price)

    @BUACHAILL, No problem, and good luck in your search. There are some very nice looking options amongst the others in this thread.

    @ciarano, Yes, it's still for sale. I'm based in Dublin 16. Just to clarify, what I'm selling is the frame, forks, headset, stem, plus handlebars, asking 200euro for the lot. Sorry BUACHAILL, if this threatens to derail your thread I'll move it to its own thread.

    Sorry for the delay. I can no longer log in on my account, probably due to the website upgrade.

    Anyway pictures attached. As I've said no dents or damage to the frame or forks but there are quite a few chips in the paint. Hopefully the pictures show it fully.
