    Hi,

Sorry for starting another thread about planet x bikes, but I have gone through a tonne of different sites looking for an answer without success. I was wondering what the weight is of one of these bikes without pedals, if anyone here knows? I can find frame weight and some weights on weight weenies but they are only showing off modified ones, so I thought I'd ask as there are a few owners here.

While I'm here, does anyone know if they (Planet x ireland) still charge extra when one wants to use the biketowork.ie scheme? It would put the cost up to 1400. I could get a cube agree gtg for around 1300 which is fully carbon, has 105 and which i probably prefer the look of. I'd kind of resent paying that extra 100 euro commission but if it was a whole lot lighter, I'd be tempted.

    Thanks

Not trying to be smart but if you look up their Irish website http://planetxireland.com/ the phone number is very clear. Ring them and ask.

When you leave for work at 07:00 and arrive home at 18:30, it doesn't always give you a chance to call them during the opening hours that they operate in between. They are open on Saturday and I can/will ring them then, I just think that I would have rathered spending that time going down to see the bike instead of making an initial inquiry. I also reckoned that if people knew the answer to my question off-hand, they wouldn't mind letting me know. I have tried emailing them using a few different email addresses with no success so I possibly haven't been quite as lazy as you are making me out to be.

The one I have for sale here is 8.3kg with pedals.

It has been modified but just to give you a ballpark figure.

I would be very surprised if they were able to give you an accurate answer, and having trouble making contact is a bit of a theme with them.

I've no idea what mine accurately weighs but I'd guess somewhere 7.6/7.7/7.8. Bikeradar quoted the Ultegra version at a touch over 17lbs/7.7kg, I'm not sure whether Rival is a lighter gruppo, if it is then its not by much.

I got my bike from them never had any issues getting hold of Marc by phone or email.

From what he told me when I was in there getting my quote is the added cost is if your company uses bike2work.ie or one of those similar "intermediary" providers. They charge the bike shops a 10% 'handling fee' which they have to pass on. But that's no different to any other LBS I called into when I was looking for a bike they all said the same thing. I'd be very surprised to see any LBS willing or able to absorb the 10% cost out of their own margins.
