    Hello,

Looking for suggestions for a cycling holiday.

Will be starting at some city that Dublin flies to (Aer Lingus / Ryanair) going to Nice, France. (Start of the cycle can be variable, but the end has to be Nice as meeting friends there).

Myself and OH are going, so we're looking at something like 50-80k / day.

Ideally looking for interesting things along the way; scenery, wine, etc.

    Any suggestions?

    Many thanks!

How long do you have to travel?

You could fly Ryanair to La Rochelle and take the A10 route towards Bordeaux (not the actual motorway obviously, there's companion roads alongside it that are perfect for cycling). In that area you have towns like Saintes (Roman arch, amphitheatre), hit the beach at Royan, Cognac (where the drink comes from, can visit cognac plants), Jonzac (medieval town), Bordeaux (stunning city and world class wines), down to Toulouse and across to Nice.

I'm only familiar with the La Rochelle - Bordeaux part but I go there every year and just back from there last week. I wasn't doing anywhere near as much cycling as you intend to but they're very cycling friendly over there and the secondary roads are perfect for that kind of trip.

Edit: oh and the trains are VERY cycle-friendly, they even have these brilliant standy-uppy rack thingy's that you can mount your bike onto so you could cover longer distances if needed that way.

    Hi all,

Many thanks for the replies - in the end we took a flight to Geneva and cycled to Zurich, as the length in km and flights suited. It was unreal.

Many thanks for all the tips!
