Hey, I am about to book my driving test, was wondering what's best day in general?
I mean so that there is less traffic, examiner would be in more or less good mood :D I am doing it in Finglas. What should I do up to test? Just drive around as much as possible? Can someone draw me a finglas route? or is there map somewhere?

You can't pick your day
You take the day you're given. No matter where you are in the country the testers will have 8 or 9 different routes they use.
Get 4 or 5 lessons before hand.

Not really. If you drive well, with few faults, you'll pass, regardless of the day.
Practice practice practice.. stop worrying about the date and worry about tour driving instead!

Well the problem is, the person that was accompanying me has left country, so I am screwed. Could try and just go for test but I have feeling I will waste 85 euro.

I was sure i'd fail mine but I just thought i'll take it as a practice run and low and behold I passed no problem :D

Have faith in your driving it will be YOU that's driving not the person you were practicing with so them leaving shouldn't make a difference to you. I'd definately recommend getting an instructor to take you on a few of the possible test routes 3/4 times. Good luck :D

If you been driving a while best to try and get a few pre-tests in to help you prepare for the test.

You could be a few weeks waiting for a test date though.

No they give you a test date and time. The only thing you could do for a first driving test booking you can state what dates you are not available to sit it and if you wish to be put forward for a cancellation. You can book it over the phone, post (fill out a form) or online.

You may be able to choose your own appointment date/time if you book online.

The best advice I can offer you is to go to an instructor who someone can recommend to you and take a few lessons to cover the test routes so that you are familiar with them.

Each test route usually has a tricky section on it and it's a good idea to have a good instructor explain how to tackle it.

It's never a good idea to just go for it imo. Fail to prepare - prepare to fail!

I wouldn't really worry about it, they aren't going to make you take your test at rush hour or anything, they'll choose a time when traffic is normal enough :)

Tests can start around 0830, 0915 and around 1630. Some test centres do them up to 1900.

Hm i took my driving test early morning when it was quiet :) But on the bright side if traffic was busy, your speed would be lower so your less likely to make mistakes :)

I booked it online and didn't get to choose my own date or time. All it asked if I wasn't available certain time or day to add that in with the application otherwise available for what ever date or time given to me. I had the option if I want to be filled in for a cancellation and I didn't click on that.

I agree, get a few pre-tests in advance of the test to help you tackle any areas that you might have difficulty with.

Be sure to know your rules of the road for the oral questions and your technical checks. Best of luck OP.

Booked my second test last night and they gave you the choice of three days you wouldn't be available. I just ticked Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'd rather be in traffic to be honest. You'll waste time sitting in traffic, at lights etc then. :)
