You can't get Irish channels on Sky box unless you are a subscriber.

You wont get RTE without paying sky. What you have now is free sat.If you got a saoirview box,you would get rte1/2/rtenews/tv3/3e/tg4/.With the two boxes you would be doing alright.

Freesat is actually a different system independent from the Sky system completely.

Correction, what they have is Free to Air, not to be confused with Freesat which is a joint venture between the BBC and ITV and requires a Freesat box or TV.

What he actually has is an out of sub. Sky box, complete with proper EPG & interactive features on the remaining channels, so not quite plain FTA.

freesat is channels you pick from a dish, freeview are ones you get from an aerial

sky has nothing to do with either.

    Isn't that what I said?

You are still not quite correct. You will not get Freesat with a Sky box, you need a Freesat box to receive it. It is carried on the same satellites, but independent from Sky

Saorview box with bunny ears you need and you get all the Irish channels

I never said you would get Freesat with a Sky box. Care to show me where I did?

You didn't, the OP said they had a Sky box in the first post
