Hey I have never invested before but do keep an eye on the markets and keep myself upto date with market news. I am looking at buying 10000 boi shares as a long long term investment, therefore I don't want to pay account management fees etc for the next 30 years or so. Can anybody tell me what the extra cost is of buying these over the counter so I can have the certificate myself. Thanks in advance

thats a huge amount to bet on bank of ireland , i have 2% of my portfolio in bank of ireland and im nervous , i bought at 9.7 cent in early june and already regret not having sold @ 11 , it hasnt managed to get past 12 in several months , the stock would go to nothing

were you not better place it in something like apple which is a company with huge growth potential and unlike bank of ireland, did not require a goverment bailout

better still would be two split the ten grand across around five companys

if i was you i wouldnt actually buy any shares for a few months, the world is slowing down , value will present itself eventually and its always nice to snap up a bargain

Sorry I should have been more clear, I'm not buying 10000 worth of shares bit rather 10000 shares (at 9 or 10 cent a piece). Do you have any idea of the extra cost of buying these shares over the counter

maybe about an extra 30euro or so
over the long run which you seem quiet happy to commit yourself to
    not a big amount anyway

Thanks, that seems very reasonable in comparison to paying management charges, I know I won't be able to sell as quickly but that's not a major concern. I won't be buying for about a year but I can't see the share price rising for quite a while anyway
