    Strange one.

Seemed to go from a cast iron case to a dubious one very quickly..

Justice for Michaela and her husband and all their family and friends.

Nice sentiment. But what if these 2 guys didn't actually do it?

Tommy Gorman thought they did it!

I thought his coverage of this trial was shocking. Having just listened to him summarising it I was amazed at his ridiculous disdainful view of the Mauritians as if they are a lesser species. He spoke of being amazed at the discussions that took place amongst ordinary people about the trial, as if people wouldnt speak of a legal case if it were here.

Someone at RTE also should reveal their costs for yet another waste of taz payers money. His commentaries on the case could have been carried out from his Kitchen if they had to operate in the real world.

Bad idea to give Gorman this, given he was simply too emotionally connected -bet he was secretly gutted he missed the Queen/Martin McG handshake.

Having just heard that a Sunday newspaper in Mauritius has published photographs of Michaela McAreavey's body, taken moments after her murder, I'm inclined to agree with him.

Anyone buiyng that newspaper or downloading those photographs at a time when the families are still coming to terms with the outcome of the trial are indeed proving themselves to be a lesser species of human in my opinion.

Wouldn't blame him for that. Any journalist worth their salt would want a piece of that story.

People calling for the heads of the two in court are no different to the masses condemning anyone else accused of the likes of the PIRA bombing campaign in mainland UK during the 70s.

Mass hysteria led by subjective and even tribal cherry-picking of reading material.

I believe all people are equal. I don't think it is a good thing to call a race of people 'lesser people' in this way.

I believe all people are equal.

    Well you'd be wrong.

There are clear divisions of class / equality within races, so why not from race to race as well?

Some societies / countries / races are superior to others, it's a simple truth.

I also believe all people are equal in that we are all human beings.

However, I do question the equalities of mentalities between different peoples.

I doubt very much that photographs of a newlywed girl on honeymoon in Ireland, whose life was viciously taken only moments before, would ever appear in even our most disreputable newspapers.

I seriously question the mentality of those who would want to see those images and hope I don't know anyone who does want to see them.

I also suggest that those who took the decision to publish them are not fit to call themselves journalists.

No, it isn't. Not by a long shot.
Which race is superior to others, for example? What criteria do you use to gauge this subjective view of yours?

Actually go start a thread in Humanities if you want to prove your generalism. This is a News and Media section after all.

What criteria or evidence do you have to support the claim that all people are equal? In the animal kingdom there are superior life forms compared to others, why does that not apply to humans too?

Why not say that to jonniebgood1?

Humans are one single species. There are no sub-species human beings.
The 'Animal Kingdom' is far too broad a generalism to even wave at your ill-informed equivalence. Unfortunately, there are those out there who see their fellow humans as sub-human via xenophobia, racism and bigotry. I've driven a car on Mauritius and see the locals as being far better sticking to the rules of the road than the daily buttnuggets I see on the roads here, for example. This would make Mauritians a better people, by your (flacid) reasoning.
Like I suggested, try a philosophical debate instead. You're proving against your point rather touting it credibly at the moment.

    Differences in class- Yes
    Differences in races-No
You are mixing up 2 seperate things. It is possible to identify differences in classes of one race without identifying one race as being superior to another.

Feel free to expand on your view, I don't agree with you but there is room to explore it further IMO

Don't be too sure - newspapers in the UK are being investigated over allegations of very controversial activity - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leveson_Inquiry

Some of those papers sell on this side of the Irish Sea too, so there's little reason to feel complacent about newspapers in Ireland.
