Holy crap, 9 birdies in 11 holes. Any time I've done that I've killed the person who woke me

Good comeback by Shane Lowry, 5 birdies on the trot to take him to -4.

Harrington doing ok too at -3 after a wobble

Good recovery by Lowry after the early 7.
    9 birdies in his 66 (-6).
    Harrington finished -3.
    Lawrie -4 after 5.

Does Shane Lowry need to be absolutely shooting the lights out to get shown on tv or what? He was -4 with 3 to play and was playing good and didnt show him once, ended up -6 T2 with only better scores being that of Molinari

Bet ya his 7 will be shown on tv.

If fairness to European Golf coverage - they show a greater variety of players than the 3 that play a pga event.

That man rapheal jaquelin playing well again..is there a more consistent guy on the european tour?

its top ten or miss the cut with him at the minute but you would think for somebody that is in competing at the business end of the amount of tournies he would win more.

Big Ernie took 4 shots to get out of a bunker. Prob one of the best bunker player of all time. Shocking stuff.

This course is a piece of cake, 100 players broke par yesterday, similar conditions today. Could be looking at a 59 from someone.

Yeah conditions are killing it. Would love to see this course played during a good warm dry spell with a stiff sea breeze.

    From another site...

Ernie Els cannot remember ever taking four shots to get out of a bunker before he did it today during an opening 70 at the Scottish Open.

Worse might have been to come when European Tour senior referee Andy McFee was waiting to speak to him after his round, but the South African was cleared of any wrong-doing during his nightmare in the sand at the 568-yard sixth.

“Some viewer called in and thought I did something which I didn’t,” said Els. “Maybe thought I was kicking and screaming – no penalty.”

Two extra shots would have made it a quadruple bogey nine.

“That would have been a world record. Next to the green 10 feet from the hole in two and I make nine. Seven is bad enough.”

Els described his first lie as “really horrendous” and said that after failing to get that one out it was merely a case of “digging a grave. I was slightly embarrassed there.”

It was an action-packed round. He also double-bogeyed the 15th, had another six at the long 12th, but also seven birdies.

7 birdies, what might have being eah.

I have to say it was admirable the way he took it, very professional about the whole episode.

Can you imagine if that happened to Monty or Marcel Siem:eek::eek::eek:

I know conditions are tough but I don't think if ever seen so many poor shots coming down the stretch from the pros.

Molinari got €350,000 for second place (€345,000 for 2nd in France ) which is more than Jamie Donaldson got for winning in Portrush.

Is it better to be consistent or is a win a better?
