    Morning all,
This is my 1st post so be gentle :)

My mother-inlaw got her attic & walls insulated & was asked by
the contractor to get herself a plumber to extend the expansion pipe going into the storage tank. She did, but the plumber wasn't overly happy with the way the tank was being insulated & the risk of legionnaires.
Had a look myself & both tanks (cold storage & heating top up) are covered & sealed like xmas presents.I just doesn't look right.
    Any thoughts ??

I'll post some pics when i get a chance

    cheers

Sorry for not getting back earlier.

Attic floor insulation is fiberglass & about 2 Ft deep.
The tank insulation is somthing like a hw cylinder jacket.

    Cheers

looks like a very good job to me....

as long as the attic is adequately ventilated i cannot see how theres any chance of the water in the tanks reaching over 25 degrees for a prolonged period of time.

The tank insulation looks adequate, however you'd normally insulate tank and cover separation to allow reasonable access for repair / leaks etc.

Point of note : - From the images I can't see any plynth or cross members of timber for the dispersal of the concentrated load the tank places on the Joyce.
Maybe its just covered over with the surrounding insulation, but if they have moved the tank and not put a plynth / cross members in place beneath the tanks - this will be a problem and should be addressed.
