Mira Elite 2 - issue?

I had an issue with a Mira Elite 2 shower - and stopped using it months ago (as have second in the house). Only now coming back to sort it. I had assumed before that it would simply be a filter clean that was needed. However, when removing the cover, I noticed this....

    LINK.

There seems to be burn marks (see the area that's circled). This was also evident on the inside of the cover. What's likely to have occurred here?

It does not look like there is anything wrong. It just looks like the black dust the motor produces over time

Ok, thanks for that. I didn't get round to clearing the filter yet - once I manage to find the valve to switch off water supply and clean filter, hopefully all will be 100%. Didn't realise that was 'normal' so thought the worst i.e. that there was a bigger problem at hand.

Removed the filter and cleaned it - although it didn't look all that bad at all. Replaced and switched shower back on - set at low and no heat. No water flow at all. I had thought that the water run was coming directly from the attic above - but maybe it's coming via the cylinder? I switched off the water valve from the pipe leading to the ensuite from the water tank in the attic.

I guess it may be switched off all the while in the hotpress in one of the pipes leading from the cylinder? Out of time - will have to try again tomorrow morning.

IF that's not the issue, what else would cause this?

If you have cleaned the filter correctly and there is still no hot water then it is most likely the heating element. A mira elite 2 comes from your attic tank. One feed and no where else.

If there is no water either the pump needs to be primed, has no power or is kaput. There should be water of some sort even if only a trickle.

No - no water whatsoever. How do I prime the pump? The light comes on (the power light..not low pressure or anything else) - and it makes noise - but no water output.

If it's 'kaput' what aspect of it is kaput ..can i verify this in any way? Is it likely the whole thing is kaput and needs replacing or a certain component needs to be replaced?

Shower is 6 years old - and only used for 3 years of that ..with 1 shower/day...

If you lossen the filter does water come out? maybe one of the valves you turned off is stuck and not allowing water into the shower.

Take the shower head down and let it hang down into the Bath. then switch the shower on and see does it let the water Flow and clear itself.

If you log on to the mira web site it will explain it in detail but esentially its like sky 6 above says

Did that just now for 30 seconds - no outflow. Will leave it on a bit longer in the morning (don't want to wake people up right now) - and see if it makes any difference.

It's many months ago since this originally became a problem (i simply ignored it and used the other shower in the house) but I don't recall having been messing about with valves at the time it first occurred. Would have had no call to go up to the attic and do that....

Ran it again this morning - all set to low power and cold - but no water flow. Even took off the hose - still no difference.

Where do I go from here?

If I don't switch off the water - and remove the filter - then there should be a continuous stream of water, right? I guess I want to ensure that there is an actual water supply - and that I have not made some error in that respect...and try and work this out by process of elimination.

Passed it over to someone who knows what he's doing - turned out the motor was fecked - replaced and all back to normal.

Similar problem with Mira we have in en-suite of our spare room. Have like the OP just left it cause we use a power shower in our own en-suite but is good to know you found your solution. How much did replacement cost ?

Strange thing is that this particular shower - although in-situ for 6 years - was only used for one of those 6 - and by only one occupant. Meanwhile, the exact same shower in the main bathroom has been used by somewhere between 1-4 people daily over that time - and it's still going strong. Go figure..

    €330 installed (shower & labour).

Sorry I thought you just replaced the motor.

I'm open to correction but more often than not, with those electric showers, when they're gone they're gone....
