Windows system problem!!

    I'm running windows on two laptops..
    my problem is windows will not start up on both laptops. One is serious that, "windows system recovery has failed" and will not let me booth up the laptop at all.. This has only happened this morning with no problems since windows has been on it.

    The other laptop it only happened minutes ago. Same thing, it would not booth up..Eventually after loads of times starting it up, it starts up for me.

    what is the problem? Am I in risk of losing all stuff on the laptops? Do I need to re-install windows onto both laptops? is it just out of date?
