20% off woodies prices is still 100% over the odds.

Perfect timing - I was shopping around for a particular hoover and they had it cheapest - guess it's not always 100% over the odds. Thanks!!!

    eh, how exactly?

20% off will be very handy on some shelving... thanks.

@5mcdonag: regarding the hoover, note that the small print says:
"Cannot be used on Garden Sheds, Electric Showers, Large Appliances, Lawnmowers, Garden Powertools, Powertools or the purchasing of Gift Cards/Vouchers."

...does a hoover count as a large appliance? Maybe not, worth a go :)

Because my local smaller family run hardware store is always 30% cheaper than Woodies or Atlantic!

I totally agree that Woodies is way over-priced. They happen to be the nearest DIY store to me but they are too expensive, and their stores are just horrible. I go to Homebase in Nutgrove for anything big - much nicer store, usually quite a bit cheaper. I even find the small DIY shops in the centre of Dublin like Kingstons are cheaper than Woodies

Stupid example - I wanted fish food the other day (not for me, for the fish!) €7.95 in Woodies. Too dear. Pet shop in Camden Street, identical stuff: €4.95

    Thanks OP.

    @The detractors -

How about posting a bargain alert detailing your local hardware store where everything is 30% cheaper and maybe even give some price comparison examples for some of the more significantly priced stuff like power tools?

    Why dont you do it?

I'm not aware of any bargains in my local hardware store... but it appears that other people who have posted on this thread do.

    That's why ;)

Does this coupon apply to full price items only or can it be used on items which are already reduced?

Well you stick to your "30% off - local family run store HW store" then and GTFO this thread. Its for Woodies, its a 20% off voucher, and some will appreciate it ( thanks count on OP will reflect this ). Too many knockers of these type of BAs.

    No likey, no posty ;)

Thanks OP, have been waiting on another one of these to get a few bits.

Don't think they will let you get a bigger discount - so if something reduced by 25% then it will stay at that, but if something reduced by 10% then this will come down to 20% reduction.

I have often tried getting dog food that is commonly on offer from €39.99 down to €29.99 and they never apply any more reduction:(

Give it a try though... might work.

Could not agree more with Dodzy, too many bashers on BA- 20% is an excellent discount and right to be in BA...if you think your fish food is too expensive in one shop versus another, rip off ireland is the thread for you.

cheers op - 20% off nice one

Just saw a sign being put on in B&Q Liffey valley saying that they will accept woodies friends and family vouchers in their stores this weekend.

Not as many restrictions as the woodies voucher - just the usual gift card, deliveries etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,991 ✭✭✭Ceist_Beag

Nice one Kinikie, just rang B&Q Naas and they are also accepting them this weekend so seems all B&Q stores will accept these.

Blanchardstown store very disorganised this morning. Tills were not set up to give the 20% and only following some messing about was this finally sorted.

NB. Items already reduced NOT eligible for the 20% discount. :( Didn't see that exclusion mentioned anywhere on the voucher.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,236 ✭✭✭georgem25

I just rang B&Q Limerick and they are accepting these vouchers too :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 914 ✭✭✭gazzaman22

Just used it in dundalk...absolutly no probs...got 20 % off everything i bought, specials and all..... :D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 795 ✭✭✭Lima Golf

Used the voucher in woodies today. Bought a cheap and cheery garden table with 4 chairs and barbecue. Should have been €150 paid €120. Thanks for the €30 in my back pocket OP! Enquired at the desk and yes the voucher CANNOT be used on already reduced items.

After I left there, went to halfords and bought some car cleaning stuff, used my axa card for 15% off, saving €5

After I left there I went to elverys and used my O2 treats to get 20% off a pair of trainers saving €15

Overall €50 saved on my little shopping trip!!! Happy days!

I was looking to buy paint twice over the last few weeks and rang around the 3 main DIY stores. Woodies were the cheapest both times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,032 ✭✭✭biebiebie

I personally find Woodies cheaper than both B&Q and Homebase, and especially for paints, decking oil etc. In fact on many occasion I found B&Q selling decking oil at an outrageously large markup over the Woodies price. Horses for courses!

Has anyone ever won the €1000 shopping spree? I've never heard of a winner and always fill in the details on the coupon.

Woodies have a 24pack of Duracell AA's for €10 so nice pick up at €8, in packs at the checkouts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 84 ✭✭aonoco

Nice one picked up a DeWALT 18v Combi Drill & 2 batteries in B&Q, was reduced already from €123 to € 99 used the woodies voucher and got it for € 79.

Snubbleste, I too fill out the coupon; If you check out the Woodie's Magazine in store you will see a picture of the winner (usually inside the back page) being presented with their prize.

Only works on items not reduced.

I tried two branches yesterday to see if i could get the reduction on a radiator cover. Both the check-out operators said that there was already a discount on it. They even tried to input the discount using the families and friends discount option but to no avail.

I think someone earlier on this thread posted up that they got the discounts on all there purchases - even those already on discount. Lucky sod. Branch managers would have got wind of this from Friday when the coupons were active and the amount of coupons flying in and changed everything.

Coupons are out of date now so mods, lock this one up.

Thanks OP anyway. It was worth a try.

This is always the way with Woodies, even with OAP or AXA discounts. Very mean spirited, they're either giving a discount or they're not. Usually go to B&Q now, don't even consider Woodies.

If Woodies are not carefull and dont start being savvy, then they might very well be the next Irish company to go under.:(

Are the Woodies vouchers now expired , or does anyone know if they would honour a voucher for purchase of €200 ?

They were valid from last Fri 13th to Sunday 15th

I'd call and speak to the manager to ask as its a big purchase.

Me thinks they are already in trouble, well Atlantic anyway - all part of the Grafton group.
