I started doing a self build house in Aug 2008 and only recently finished the build . I didn't register for Mortgage interest relief at the time and now want to claim back for the last four years . As i was drawing down the money in stages for example €20,000 at the start and in total €160,000 altogether which was in October 2010 how now will i go about claiming back the interest relief and how will i calculate it ?Will i be able to do it online ?

You need to complete a TRS1P, which you can get on www.revenue.ie.

Revenue say (since February 2011) that "all applications for mortgage interest relief must be made on-line."

    Details here: http://www.revenue.ie/en/online/mortgage-interest-relief-online-facility.html#section5

    Hi all

does anyone know what the rate of mortgage interest relief for a first time buyer who started their mortgage in 2006 was for the years 2006, 2007 and 2008? I can't see anything on the revenue site and we're trying to claim in retrospect. Was the rate 20%?

    Thanks!
