Had people come to look at my car yesterday which is for sale.

They had diagnostic equipment and were messing with their fancy gear for a while.

He mentioned something like this: "the 3rd cylinder was misfiring every 20 cycles; somebody messed with the electronics in 2007..." he also said something about a coilpack.

They didnt buy the car.. Should i be worried about this.??

Car runs grand and fuel economy is good. Is a 3 cylinder colt.

Sorry, just read it again and seen shes a colt. A cool pack should be cheap enough, if you really need one

Dunno if I really need one.

car runs grand although sounds a bit funny on idle..from the outside it sounds a little rattly

3 cylinder cars can sound a bit rough, even at idle. If there is a problem with the coil you should notice a certain amount of hesitation when accelerating.
Otherwise nothing to worry about....."someone messed with the electronics in 2007", probably just flagged up as a date when someone pluigged into the diagnostics to either check, or clear, a fault.

A misfiring cylinder can cause a lot of damage to the cat due to unburnt fuel getting in it.
In my GF's MX5 it burnt a hole in it, had to replace the coilpack and the cat.
