Ok so I have an idea for an app but my development skills are pretty limited.

I'm wondering who I can go to to help me or if anyone can recommend an online course or a few books for me to study it myself this summer?

If you want to develop it yourself, then Google themselves have a vast developer training tutorial site -

    http://developer.android.com/intl/de/training/index.html

Depending on your programming experience this might not be the quickest approach. But if you've plenty of time then it's a great starting point.

When you get stuck then just do a search, it's likely someone has hit the same issue and resolved it on sites like stackoverflow.

If you've any specific requests, questions feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to help.

Theyre after doing a great job redesigning that site. It used to be a complete mess!

They did indeed, it's much easier to find things now, thankfully!

Thanks for the link, have no experience of programming but might have a play around with this, always wanted to try and learn.

There's a really cool Youtube tutorial series on android app development by a guy going under the moniker of The New Boston.

    http://thenewboston.org/list.php?cat=6

Goes from absolute beginnings, how to download and set-up the Eclipse development tool and the android emulator properly, right through basic Java and XML coding with a focus on android app development, through to making your own sample apps and projects. Really, really well done.

I'd never learned or attempted any development or programming (or anything computery really) like that whatsoever before starting to work my way through the videos and was able to design very basic little android apps after a couple of weeks.

I'd imagine if you have even some basic knowledge or experience with development to start off with it'd be very beneficial, and you could skip ahead through some of the videos (there's 200 of them, so 24 hours or something of video in total) instead of having to keep going over them one step at a time like I did.

Must get back to working my way through them actually, was at about number 50 when I broke from it last. Never thought I'd find programming stuff in any way interesting but it's actually really fun when you get into it a bit. :)
