I'm thinking of making the UK run to get a tidy used diesel. I know my cars but I'm interested if anyone has experience of my short list below, or any opinion on options I havent considered.

I'm not bothered with the German stuff, been burned with expensive repairs before

    Era 2008/9

    Mazda 6 2.2 163 hatch
    Mondeo Titanium X hatch
    Octavia vRS estate
    Accord CDTi
    Passat Variant 2.0 140

    Hi,

Unfortunately no use on your request, however if you could spare the time, I would be most interested in how you get on what with prices of some cars over here at the moment, as in market for a larger family type car due to new arrival.
If still reading :), I'm unsure of the exact details on importing and associated costs (e.g. any costs outside of exchange rate (+26%), VRT (e.g. +24%), travel (~£500), any certs (e.g HPI, AA, RAC or whatever).
Woudl appreciate any feedback either on thread or PM.

Thanks in advance, and good luck with the car shopping/purchase.

Any Rover with a diesel? Cheap VRT, nice, easy to repair?

I think I might not consider a Rover this time:rolleyes: I could get an Alfa Romeo 159 JTD and at least it would look pretty while steaming at the side of the road.

Yeah the 6 is top of my list for a reason, very taken with it.

Ill be happy to report back my experience, might take a month or 6 weeks but Ill let you know

As an Octavia vRS owner ( Hatch )
One thing I will say is if you are doing big miles it may not be the most relaxing car of the bunch.
    Road noise being a fail.

I would go with the Mazda 6
    Or Mondeo titanium X
