Can anyone tell me why I see this box where an image should be when I open some websites?

Are you at home or work.

Could be a firewall issue or anti virus blocking it.

Can you give us an example of a site you can't view an image on?

When you can - add info like what browser you were using and did you try with another browser on the same computer, that'd help narrow it down.
