    Hi
    I got this thanks

Can you help me as the sound is very low.
The sound range is minus 75 db to plus 25 db (is that how it should be?)

I only get sound around minus 5db.
Then I hear a lot of hiss from all speakers

    Thanks

    Mathie,

its should be pretty loud - The max volume is actually reached at +16.5db by default - you would need to check the input trim and max volume settings and of course in particular what the output is of the source you have connected ie if you have connected a source with a variable output make sure that the output is set to maximum - if you still can't get it to work I'll get one of the guys to give you a shout and try to talk you through it over the phone...

    Keep me posted,

    Thanks very much John.

I'd the sound quite low (20%) on my Squeezebox player.
I put it up to 80% and its now giving an excellent sound.

    Thanks very much.
    Great service as usual :)

    Hi,
I was enquiring about the lg SR906 earlier but this surely would be worth the exta few quid?
would it be the same cost to Kilkenny? €257 yoyos?
thanks, i need to make a decision at the weekend.

    Cheers

    Orange,

thanks for the post and apologies for the delay getting back to you.

Yep the YHT196 is a proper separates system and as such I would strongly recommend it over the LG SR906 - however saying that the SR906 is a really good unit and as a basic receiver it really does sound quite well and if it was to complete an LG system then I would probably go for that as my preferred option.

Thanks again and keep me posted if we can assist in any way,

    Orange,

apologies for the delay getting back to you:

    Ok the Yamaha YHT196 is £179.95 / €239.99 and delivery is £12.99 / €16.99 so the total is £192.98 / €256.98

On the Blu-Ray front I would receomend the Sony BDPS780 - I know it pushes the budget a bit (it's £149.95) but it's a cracking unit and it also is Multi Region for standard DVD's as a bonus..it's had a Huge 5 Star review from What-Hi-fi (reviewed at £240) so its really a great player at £149.95 / €189.99

It features 3D Blu-ray, DVD, SACD and CD playback, but it also features wi-fi for connection to your home network, Skype and 2D-to-3D video upconversion. Your smartphone can be its remote control, thanks to Apple and Android apps.

Delivery for the complate system would be the same (ie we don't charge any more for the addition of the Blu-Ray player..

Thanks again for the post and the opportunity to quote and as ever please drop me a line if we can assist in any way or if you would like to order just PM or Email us your contact details and we will give you a shout to arrange delivery.

forgot to say I got this and am very pleased so far, aint thrown anything severe at it yet but did use some sound demos from youtube through my connected media pc and it blew me away, nice and crisp.

If there was a 3d, multiregion dvd, blueray player, ex display/marked going cheap it would make my day:D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23 orangegoblin

Have mine about 2 weeks now and am quite happy. The sound is much better than what I was used to. CDs sound amazing if you sit the middle of the room. Have to have a good fiddle to get the max from it. The bluray player is superb too. Does a great job of upscaling LOTR. Can't imagine what a really expensive set up would sound like. Tv room only about 17x10. Fills it adequately.

Another update on this , upgraded to Ntl hd today and the sound is terrific through the system , also found out how to turn on my mic in 3.5mm port on my media pc and send sound through hdmi to the Yamaha and it sounds excellent (iPhone) , delighted with the system

    hi guys,

I have a set of Q Acoustics 1010's for the stereo in a different room to the TV. Would the yht 196 amp power these as the two front speakers adequately? Or what would be the biggest speakers you could mate with this amp? just thinking ahead! this question is open to all.

    Thanks

    Hi Orange,

The 1010s would work fine with the Yamaha amp. If you wanted to go for something a bit more powerful you could look at the Dali Zensor 1s currently priced at £178.99. Here's a link for more info:

    Hope this helps.
