If your console is dead with a disk in it, get a screwdriver, dismantle it and take the disk out. It's not that hard, you don't exactly need to be gentle!

No need for a screwdriver just yet.
    Try this:

got me a new white PS3 not so long ago, first time getting it, the big bonus is that its been out years and all the older good games are going for less than €20 :) am stuck in the middle of Fallout 3 at the mo, brilliant game :)

I honestly do not understand this generation.

Why have we accepted that our consoles will not last the length of the generation. People have gone through multiple Xboxes and PS3s yet keep buying more?

Electronics aren't built as well as they were. It's a fact. The alternative is not play when it dies, or don't buy it at all. Would prefer to play than not to.

cud be wrong but the PS£ may h ave been rushed when it was first released, either way most 'new' consoles and PCs have tech issues and bugs, i prefer to buy them 'down the line' when all the issues have been resolved. I remember playing on a mates PS£ when they first came out and after about an hour the fan sounded like it was a plane doing a sonic boom from taking off!

Same with 'fat' XBox 360. My PS3 died after 4 years of good use and I never hesitated buying another, I felt I had got what I paid for and was happy to ship another €200 for a few years use. Generally if I'm using something constantly the €100/year cost is something I'm okay with.

I had the original Xbox when it came out first and after a month the disk tray was knackered with a game stuck in it and the thing fell apart when I brought the screwdriver to it!

i have my still have my newish PS3 wrapped in bubblewrap in case it falls, covered in carefully cut pillowcase to avoid dust and on the highest shelf I can to keep little people away from it, its my baby lol

I've had my release 60gb for 5 years, have played literally thousands of hours of it and the only complaint I have is that the fan is a bit loud when turning on, fingers crossed it doesn't die on me!

    Same here.

I have got into the habit of backing up my saves to the cloud after I stop playing and always ejecting the disk before I turn the console of , just in case.
