    Hi,

I am just wondering what is the going salary rate for Legal Secretarial work.

I have 6 years legal secretarial experience with a large busy firm and over 15 years clerical experience. I have a FETAC Level 5 major award in Business Studies & Media Production and a Legal Training Certificate (Distinction) as well as numerous London Chamber of Commerce & Industry qualifications and City & Guilds. I have have completed two modules of a BA in Humanities with DCU (distance learning) and i am currently registered to begin study with Open University in February for a Social Science Degree (Criminology pathway), my points from study with DCU are transferable to this degree.

I have applied for a number of jobs and had a number of interviews and each time i was asked what salary i would be looking for i said between €28,000 & €30,000 pa, gross. Is this too high, or am i short selling myself?

I would be grateful of any replies as i am wondering is this affecting the outcome of my interviews.

    Best Regards.

    Evelyn.

Things have changed hugely salary wise in the legal profession since the downturn, unfortunately I know this only too well. Check out Brightwater Recruitment website, they do a great annual salary survey and will give you an idea of what the secretarial salary is at the moment in the different regions of the country.

    Hi evelyn.

Just wondering what subjects you did as a part of your media and business course? I am starting a media studies course in September and have been out of education for some time...while researching my course i have noticed some subjects which look quite foreign to me....Media Analysis, Writing skills for journalism and games studies. If you did study any of these I would be most grateful if you could pass on your notes/assignments to me so i could study these before the course starts? Of course i would pay you for them...don't expect them for free or that.
