I don't get it, is there more information.

How is Ireland "it's first international research partner"?
why did they not pick Canada?
Have they worked with the ESA, japanese etc before
Are we not in the ESA?

What does this mean in practical terms?

    is this all it is
It is expected the initial agreement will mean two Irish undergraduates travel to the US annually to work and study at the Ames base in Silicon Valley

I dont get the article either. As far back as 1984 Nasa worked with the Dublin Institute of Technology with Dr Denis O Sullivan on LDEF and had a cosmic ray dectector on board the Shuttle, much later the Universirty of Limerick had a sleep experiment on board the ISS I think it was called CASPER.As for Students travelling to NASA we already had a exciting and wonderfull program going where Irish students were travelling to KSC and launching Rockets untill Mary Harney and her FAS friends went on junkets and spoiled it for everyone.
