Dublin airport jobs and car

I recently applied for a job at Dublin airport and checked the job requirements’ 3-4 times to see if I need a job because I have seen jobs advertised for Dublin airport and because of the shifts your own car is a requirement. So there was no mention of having to own a car but the in the few questions they ask at the end on jobs.ie website they ask do you have a car. Now I know it would be best to own a car for getting to the airport from the city centre. Does anyone know do all jobs in Dublin airport require a car.

Many airport jobs start and finish at times when public transport is not running and in those cases a car is needed.
Be aware that airport workers no longer have free parking and though some employers pay for a parking pass others ( like Ryanair ) do not - be sure to establish if you will have to pay for parking - it amounts to several hundred euro a year.

If it's with the DAA you'll be able to apply for a parking permit, there is no charge.

In terms of requiring a car there is no requirement as such, just that you can get to work on time. Some shifts, depending on what company and what job, can start as early as 3 or 4am so just be aware of that. There is a special bus service the airport offers for €5 each way you can book a bus that will come pick you up anywhere in Dublin at any time 24/7 and drop you to the airport. Best to have your own car though.

    What job is it for?

The job is for the security team and it’s a 12 month contract.

You may need a car depending on what part of the airport you are based at, like you may not necessarily be in the terminal building for a security position. The airport bus does not serve every building at the airport and some of the buildings are remote enough and hard to access so i'd imagine you need to drive yourself there or else have a very long walk every morning.
