Teaching Council Registration Form

    Hi all,

I'm guessing there are a lot of NQT's filling in this form at the moment (the green one).

What do ye make of the questions on page 2: 'Has this degree been assessed by the Teaching Council?' and 'If yes, please enter the assessment reference number'.

Apart from the obvious question marks regarding why we have to tell the council if they have done something or not, I'm just wondering how others have answered this.

I rang the council yesterday and was told that this is just for qualifications that require additional assessment to see if they meet a standard. However, one of my friends also rang, asked the same question, and got an answer to the contrary.

    Thanks,
    fed up already :P

If you have a normal qualification (one on their list) from an Irish university, the answer is no and just move on (as far as I can remember).

Sorry for maybe confusing the issue but would the answer not be 'yes' if it's on their list as by definition it'll have been assessed by the TC before going on the list? It's just that it won't have been individually assessed for that candidate.

No, I wouldn't say so. They don't assess your qualifications if you're on their list unless you ask them to as far as I know.

The answer is 'no'. Unless your degree isn't recognised to teach the subjects you're attempting to register with.

Hence the confusion. I've spoken to a few more people and I've said 'no'.

    Thanks for the help!

Did this form arrive lately? I'm abroad so have to try and do it from here. Is there a date it has to be back for?

Forms are here for general registration

    or details for NQT Here

I just looked through NQT page - glad I got in without all that. I know it is necessary but an awful load of coming and going involved. I let mine lapse last year and had a woeful job re-registering. so when you're in stay in!!

If you get them the info to access your online qualification records do you still have to send in your original transcripts? Also do you send in your Garda clearance or just give them the reference number on the form?

I gave access to online records so no need for transcripts. When i did garde clearance i sent everything to tc and got word back through them that all was ib order. If you have it already id send everything in.

There was one part if my form i signed and left for principal to sign. Sent it off only to have it returned as dates were different. What a joke.

    Send everything to be sure.

I just gave them the reference number on the Garda clearance letter. The letter is from the teaching council and they didnt mention send it on.
