If anything has been left disconnected from the rear of the dials/clocks etc then the car won't start.

Well, if he was only at the dashboard, then something has to be still disconnected.

At the risk of being totally unhelpful... why was a 2010 car not brought to the dealer? I think it's still 2012 at the moment, but even if the car only had a 1 year guarantee I'm sure the dealer would have fixed a burst pipe on a good will basis.

I'd go with ND that something is disconnected (or not put back properly) and the radio problem could mean that the current was lost at some time during the work.

Was the battery disconnected before he started work?

Chances are that the immobiliser has kicked in when the clocks were disconnected. It might need a tow to the dealer to clear the code or somebody with a VCDS tool to clear the fault.

As the other posters have said something must have been left disconnected. A diagnostic scan will help to point in the right direction. Where are you located?

Thanks for ur replies guys, he had another look this morning and took the clocks out with a "fresh head", and there was a tiny clip bent so he sorted that and thank god the car started , he turned the radio on and all is fine,

we didnt bring it back to the main dealer i knew myself it would cost a fortune having wored in the motor trade myself and we dont have the money at the mo, hubby loves fixing things and is very good mechanically so he gave it a bash which thankfully worked out well, we bought the car last yr with 1yrs warranty which ran out in feb....i will say tho the guys in the parts & 1 of the mechanics was very helpful when he rang them yesterday and got a part off them foc ...happy days...
