Thanks. Pity I dont think there's a straight flight from Shannon to Amsterdam. What would put me off with British Airways is the waiting time between flights

You could book Ryanair to London and book the connecting flight based on your arrival time. Easy jet go to Amsterdam I think, from London.

or avoid London altogether and simply fly from Cork direct to amsterdam.

Citylink go direct from Galway/Limerick to Cork airport

And aerlingus fly twice a day direct to amsterdam.

If you must make a connection then bus + flight is as valid as flight + flight, except for the benefit that if anything goes wrong with the bus connection you are stuck in Ireland a couple of hours from home rather than England if you opt to risk a connecting ryanair flight.

The high fare and the inconvenience factor would make me discount BA Shannon-Ams.

As suggested above, look at Aer Lingus direct or perhaps Ryanair to Eindhoven, then a short train hop to Amsterdam.

Worked in holland for a few months and would say best option would be Cork - Amsterdam, but flight times are not great. 6.10 am and 5pm..so either a long day in Amsterdam for match or go night before.. train in from Schipol takes 20 minutes and drops you in middle of the city, don't know about getting to Amsterdam Arena though, i didn't go..
